Review

The Dog & Duck is a traditional and friendly local pub consisting of a bar and lounge area to the front and a snug towards the back. There are real fires to each end of the divided front space and the bar has six decent cask ales on, served well and at a good price.

The décor is bright and bold revealing its 1930's heritage, with a loud red proper pub carpet, maroon brentwood seating and plenty of polished brass. There are no dark corners to hide away in here but that just all adds to the wonderful community feeling of being welcomed into a family home. There's sport on the large TV in the bar but also plenty of space to sit and relax out of the way. Apparently the food they serve in the lounge is very popular. There's also some separate accommodation buildings at the rear which could be a good place to stay over if you're visiting.

This pub really was a little treat and not what we were expecting, it turned out to be a great characterful and welcoming place, certainly worth popping by for a couple of pints.
