Leeds is a city in West Yorkshire. It is the largest settlement in Yorkshire. Built around the River Aire and is in the eastern foothills of the Pennines. The city was a small manorial borough in the 13th century and a market town in the 16th century. It expanded by becoming a major production and trading centre (mainly with wool) in the 17th and 18th centuries.

Brownhill & Co. is a fantastic little specialist beer bar down a side street close to the Corn Exchange. It's a simple but elegant bar reminiscent of a Belgian beer café with exemplary table service and a great range of 10 keg lines, 2 casks and a fridge with beers from all over the world that are certainly worth a look.
It always has a very calm and relaxing atmosphere which can be a welcome break from some of the more packed out traditional pubs. It's not the cheapest bar you'll go to but it really is a case of you get what you pay for.
If there's a table free I'll always make a beeline for Brownhill when in Leeds and if you like great friendly customer service and quality craft beer then you should too.

The Brunswick is a modern quirky little neighbourhood pub to the north of Leeds City Centre. It has a cool and friendly atmosphere with a decent selection of cask and keg on offer. It's very dog friendly and is highly rated for food as well, especially their Sunday Roasts.
I love these sort of out of town cafe bar style pubs and their relaxed vibe, the Brunswick is a great example. It's a pretty tight fit downstairs but there's some more room on the first floor and although the beer garden is just a few outside tables in better weather you can apparently take your drinks over to the park too.

The original craft beer bar in Leeds! It's been a very long time since I was in North Bar, the area has changed quite a bit over the years and North Bar has evolved from its Belgian Beer Café origins into an all round top quality location for craft beers, with a few Belgians still hanging around.
Mostly their own great beer from North graces the numerous pumps but there's more than enough range to keep you occupied all evening. Great relaxed vibe and a fresh modern interior which still harks back to its origins.

Tapped on Boar Lane in Leeds is a busy and modern City Centre Brewpub from Pivovar. They have a staggering amount of keg and cask lines that would keep even the most fussy craft drinker entertained.
With one large open space which features their brew kit down the side. Only their lager seemed to have been brewed on it but I guess brewdays are limited when you're a pub. Prices were a little above average but to be expected from the location.
We visited on a busy Saturday in December and the service left a lot to be desired unfortunately. It does look like they do a good pizza as well but there's plenty of stiff completion in Leeds and other than a nice meeting place it wasn't quite the type of pub we prefer. Definitely worth popping in if you want a very large selection of different beers though.

Located in Sheepscar on the northern outskirts of Leeds amongst some unassuming industrial units is a wonder of ridiculous beer. The small unit which houses both the brewery and Tap Room, for the fairly recent Tartarus Brewery, is a lot more cosy and welcoming than you'd expect from the outside.
With traditional craft brewery benches and a couple of nice sofas it would be really easy to spend a good long while here sampling the 11 keg lines and numerous cans direct from the source. It's a bit hard on the pocket and possibly a little dangerous, as their raison d'etre is to make some of the strongest and most bizarre beers you could think of, but with the vast majority this works to stunning effect and thankfully most are sold as thirds. Also with 15% off takeaway cans you can stock up at home where a pint of a 12% Imperial Stout could be a lot safer. 😆
It's a bit of a walk out of the centre of Leeds but one we'll definitely be making again.
They only open the Tap Room at specific times so make sure you check their website before visiting.

You can't visit Leeds without popping into the beating heart of the City. Licenced in 1718 and rebuilt in the 1880s Whitelock's is one of Leeds' oldest pubs. Hidden down an alleyway off the main thoroughfare of Briggate it's a world away from the modern city.
A pure slice of opulent Victorian hostelry, etched glass, copper top tables and beautiful signwriting. With a great range of exceedingly well kept beer the pub is a real treat. The only downside being due to its popularity we've always found it rammed full but have no fear there's usually some space in the alley to savour a nice pint of cask even in Winter, I had the infamous Bad Kitty from Brass Castle on this occasion.
Hands down one of our favourite pubs in Leeds and always worth checking out. Maybe one day we'll get a table. 😆
