Situated in the picturesque village of Crakehall in Bedale and overlooking their quaint village green is the The Bay Horse Inn. A traditional local pub which was originally built as a blacksmiths shop in the 17th century and now operates as a simple open plan space with a central bar serving a couple of Theakstons beers.
With a characterful beamed ceiling and cosy window seats in the bay windows it serves the locals well with darts, pool table and a small TV. The pub is home to the local cricket team as well as providing the usual regular evening entertainment and they also have a small range of food offerings.
We received a very warm welcome and it seemed like a great friendly local and although the beer garden is a little basic just at the front of the pub the view across the green was beautiful. Not bad for a brief stop over.
