The Horseshoe Inn is a quaint 19th Century pub located in the picturesque rural Village of Levisham up on the North Yorkshire Moors. It sits proudly at the top of the village with a wonderful beer garden overlooking the surroundings. Due to the location it is certainly more of an Inn and Gastropub than a drinkers destination but they have a warm welcome for all stopping by including people walking around the local stunning countryside, just make sure you leave any muddy boots at the door. As such there's not a huge range on the bar and it is a little more pricey but there's certainly enough for a couple of refreshing pints from Theakson's and Timothy Taylor's to keep you happy.
When we visited Sunday lunch was in full swing and the place was bustling, with the rather hairy drive down the country lanes and dipping down into the steep valley of Levisham Beck it definitely must be worth the trip. The menu looked good with a small selection of quality locally sourced produce.
With a wide range of rooms also available for B&B The Horseshoe Inn would make a great base for a short break exploring the Moors, it's also just a short walk over to Levisham Station where you can catch a ride on the historic North Yorkshire Moors Railway to explore the countryside further. All in all it's a beautiful spot to stop off at for welcome refreshments.
