The Museum Street Tavern which was formerly known as Thomas's of York had struggled for many years with quite a turnover of tenants but in 2023 it was refurbished and brought back to life. The building itself dates from the 1700s and has spent most of its life as a hotel and pub, the latest refurbishment strips is back to simple muted colours and dark half wood panelled walls. It's a little stark and bright inside now with the only vestige of its long history some stained glass panelling.
The beer selection was rather generic and a little disappointing but there was at least a decent keg beer on, prices were at the higher end for the City centre. The food looked nice though and it was a peaceful spot to pop in for a pint, it just seemed to be lacking some of it's previous character.
